Class 5 crash course driving in Calgary

In order to get licensed, all new drivers must go through the graduated driver’s license programme (GDL) to get the support, learn the skills and gain the experience they need to earn a full Class 5 license that they require. Here in Alberta, you can obtain a class 7 learner license when you are 14 years old which you must have in order to take our class 5 course.

We have two packages for you to choose from:

  • Class 5 GDL Package – ten hours in-vehicle, 15 hours in-class
  • Class 5 non-GDL Package – 6 hours in-vehicle, 15 hours in-class

Our highly-rated, crash course driving Calgary service will prepare you for the Class 5 road test that you need to be legal when driving unaccompanied by a fully licensed driver. The Class 5 GDL crash course driving in Calgary includes fifteen hours of classroom time and ten hours of driving time and is the recommended option for those learning how to drive for the first time.

Classes are held on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am until 5:30 pm on Saturday and 12:30 pm to 9 pm. You will have five sessions of 2-hour lessons as part of your crash course driving Calgary service which can be booked anytime between Monday and Sunday, from 8 am to 8 pm.

What will you LEARN from our Calgary crash driving course?

Here at Direct Driving School, we recommend that all of our students, young or old, follow the 5 L.E.A.R.N steps that our crash course driving Calgary experts have put together for new drivers:

  • Limit the number of passengers – Passengers are a huge risk to new drivers, as they need time to practise without the added distraction of having other people in the vehicle. We highly recommend a no passenger rule for the first year of unsupervised driving
  • Everyone wears a seatbelt every time and everywhere – You should ONLY drive when everyone in the vehicle is buckled up safely. Think about if you accidentally crash and your friend or family member isn’t wearing a seatbelt – is it worth it?
  • After dark it’s time to park – Did you know that most deadly crashes happen between 9 pm and 6 am? Be responsible and don’t risk your life or your passengers’ lives.
  • Rural roads mean more risk – Are you aware that in Alberta, over 75% of serious injury crashes happen in rural areas? Be patient, vigilant and responsible.
  • No alcohol or drugs – ever – Alberta’s GDL puts tough restrictions on alcohol use during the learner and probationary periods, meaning you need to have a zero percent alcohol level.

We encourage you to check out our driver guides if you unsure about what to expect from our crash course driving Calgary course, or alternatively, you can refer to our FAQ page for the most asked questions and related answers.
